We’re pleased to be attending Probiota 2024 – the leading microbiome industry event run by NutraIngredients Europe – this year as a Gold Sponsor! Meet us in Milan on 7-9 February, where we will demonstrate how we’re bringing probiotics to life and share the latest developments in sports supplementation and women’s health – specifically in menopause.
A highlight of the congress for the AB-BIOTICS team will be the Scientific Frontiers Session, where the very best research in the microbiome field is showcased. We’re delighted to announce that our abstract on the effect of probiotics on serum oestrogens in healthy peri- and postmenopausal women was awarded the highest possible score and was hand-picked to be presented during this session.
Don’t miss Dr Honda’s speaker slot on day two of the event on Thursday 8th February.
With over 20 years of experience in supplement ingredient R&D, Dr Shinichi Honda, research manager of the probiotics team at Kaneka corporation, will be presenting the results of the study, which aimed to investigate the potential for a specific blend of probiotic strains to modulate serum oestrogen concentrations. Needless to say, results are really promising.
Oestrogens are essential hormones for women, and the decline of serum estrogen concentrations during menopausal transition is linked to several symptoms that affect the quality of life. Since these hormones are regulated in part by the gut microbiota, it’s logical to assume that there is potential for a probiotic mixture containing specific strains to modulate serum estrogen concentrations.

We’ll also be leading a not-to-be-missed roundtable session on probiotics in high-intensity sports, uncovering important insights from an ultra-marathon clinical trial.
This session will focus on the exciting topic of probiotics in high-intensity sports, sharing preliminary insights from a ground-breaking ultra-marathon clinical trial. Speakers will be exploring the impact of probiotic supplementation, and whether it can reduce exercise-induced digestive discomfort and improve performance. During this, you will hear the essential characteristics of probiotics that have the potential to enhance sports performance, as well as the innovative strategies employed in clinical trials for effective participant recruitment and monitoring. The role of probiotics in sports nutrition is continually evolving; join us if you’re curious about the latest research and opinions on this topic.
Any questions? From our medical and R&D teams, Ph.D. Marta Pérez and Ph.D. Meritxell Aguiló will be available throughout the Probiota conference to share any promising findings on probiotics and discuss how this can translate into further possibilities in new product development. See you there!
