AB HISTORY
Following the 2004 spin-out of AB-BIOTICS from the University Autònoma of Barcelona (UAB), our initial focus was on applying innovative technology to help cheese makers differentiate their products through biotechnology. This quickly expanded to other areas of microbiology, focused on developing novel probiotics and specialty dietary supplements.
By investing in the development of a large, proprietary bank of wild-type bacterial strains (over 550), AB-BIOTICS has developed a pipeline of products with novel, patentable performance characteristics. Our pipeline includes a range of proprietary supplements designed to improve health – from products that can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease to those that can help in the management of diabetes. Our pipeline covers the development spectrum from marketed product, to proof-of-concept, and includes products that have been licensed to global food and pharmaceutical companies.
To support our internal product development, we have leveraged our growing technical microbiology expertise to expand into providing contract R&D Project Management services to the nutriceutical and pharmaceutical industries.

AB-INTIMUS ®
A probiotic with the unique ability to adhere to the vaginal epithelium and displace Candida infections, and to survive the increased concentrations of antimicrobials (e.g. lysozyme and defensin peptides) that frequently occur in such infections.
AB-GINGIBAL ®

AB-COLIC ®
Although infantile colic is commonly reported, its pathogenesis remains unclear and there is no current treatment. AB-COLIC is a probiotic formula, designed to be orally administered in an oil-based solution, with broad antagonism for pathogens present in breastmilk and infant formula.
AB-PROBIOSIS ®
A functional ingredient that reduces the absorption of glucose in the intestine in order to help people with diabetes avoid post-prandial hyperglycemia. AB-PROBIOSIS can help people with diabetes eat with more flexibility and reduce their risk of long term microvascular damage caused by prolonged hyperglycemia. This product has completed high throughput screening with EU (EFSA) accepted ingredients and candidate ingredients are in preclinical testing.
AB-FORTIS ®
An iron-containing ingredient with a special double-coat microencapsulation that allows the fortification of foods with iron without the risk of generating undesirable byproducts such as oxidized lipids that are caused by iron-mediated oxidation.
AB-I3.1 ®
A natural solution developed to reduce the symptoms and the frequency of gastrointestinal emergencies in patients affected by IBD and IBS.
AB-RADIOBAL ®
A probiotic formula designed to reduce the incidence of radiotherapy-induced diarrhea, through its ability to produce trophic factors in the intestinal epithelium.
AB-ENHANCER ®
Is a probiotic alternative to the controversial, and often banned, use of antibiotics to promote growth in livestock.
